i-Cube Monopoly is a board game that we are developing under collaboration with experienced teachers of children with special educational needs (SEN), in order to facilitate financial education for this under-represented group of people in Thai society.
Our version of Monopoly game adjusts down several unnecessary complexities and adds features that can emphasize the importance of basic financial literacy. The early phase of our study employs advanced simulation techniques to examine configurability of the game to suit a variety of plausible financial lessons related to interest, inflation, and investment, which are the mainstream metrics of financial literacy assessment across countries.
The results show that winning probabilities of each game strategy vary across the number of turns played in the game and are somewhat sensitive to parameters related to interest rates. Hence, we find a promising result of how our i-Cube Monopoly game could appropriately be configured to emphasize the importance of saving or risky investment.
